The Real Pecker

 

There is a real woodpecker that comes around sometimes in my yard. As a child, I never thought I'd see a real one. The woodpecker had a knock loud enough that I could hear him with my windows closed. He put holes all the way up my pecan tree.

 I thought: That woodpecker got to go.” But there was one tree I was glad he peaked on some. The woodpecker had a powerful beak. When I hear that woodpecker, I think of the cartoon Woody Woodpecker. I remember the cartoon in the 70s where he was created in 1940 by Walter Lantz …
